Yoga is my spiritual practice, my work-out, my community, my mind-body-soul medicine and my playground. This incredibly simple and yet unfathomably powerful practice requires nothing more than our own breath and our own bodies to affect a powerful inner and outer transformation. Yoga can soothe us, strengthen us, focus our thoughts and intentions, challenge our limits (and our beliefs about our limits) and rocket us into deep meditative bliss. I am so passionate about the path of yoga - both as a physical practice and as a philosophy, and I would love nothing more than to bring some of the joy, enthusiasm and playfulness that is my daily ritual into yours. Yoga is a powerful full body work-out, but our practice is much more holistically nourishing than that. It is a celebration of ourselves exactly as we are today, while we gently and supportively urge ourselves on to reach for the best versions of ourselves in the imagined tomorrow . We grow physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. Yoga is about "progress", not "perfection”, so let's never forget to smile and have fun while we move, dance, sing, chant and laugh our way to our highest selves.
I am an E-RYE 200 yoga teacher with a background in psychology and in education of children with special abilities and challenges. I offer my gifts and guidance to adults, children, families, small groups, corporate teams, addicts in recovery and all those seeking to gain physical and emotional balance and to deepen their connection with their best selves and the world. I look forward to venturing off on this amazing journey with you.
I teach beginner to advance level yoga with heart, humility and humor. Whether I'm helping you to touch the sky or to touch your toes, I'm as inspired by your stepping up to the challenge as I hope to inspire you. We are never too grown up to stop growing. Through the avenue of the breathe, we begin to tap into the depth of consciousness that lies within each of us. The more we practice, the more we discover. I offer a variety of styles of yoga to deliver you on the path to awakening. Only you know which path is right for you: vinyasa flow, kundalini, meditation, and restorative.
As a mama and someone who works with children with special needs, I wish yoga could be available to all children. Can you imagine having this powerful tool to improve mood, decrease stress, increase emotional intelligence and sense of self while navigating childhood and adolescence? In this growing age of pressure and perfectionism I want to wrap this practice around every young heart to whisper "You are enough, you are powerful, you've got this," to them all day every day. And the best part is - we have a blast doing it!
For the visionary employers - this is a no-brainer. A centered, healthy and focused team is a productive team. And a team that knows you care about their wellbeing is a grateful team! Be the Boss of bosses and bring the light of yoga into your workplace. I specifically tailor my corporate classes towards stress-reduction, focus, camaraderie and teamwork to make this a win-win for everyone involved.
I offer an ever-changing, always fresh and often improvised series of poses to meet the specific needs of my client or group.
Vinyasa centered and driven by the breath - through a series of intentional actions that we carry out to the best of our abilities and then let go and move on to the next action. Does this sound like your life? If not, I can help with that!
While Vinyasa itself is a moving meditation, I also offer quiet seated or guided mediations as a practice.
Sitting quietly in stillness or focused on an intention decreases stress, improves focus, self-awareness, and helps us bring awareness to the "background chatter" that for many of us rolls on unconsciously and repeatedly throughout our days. With practice, we can gain control of the "volume knob" of our thoughts and bring purpose to our thoughts and subsequently, our actions. So "Don't just do something - sit there"! And watch the transformation unfold right beneath your eyelids.
From the Bhakti yoga tradition, kirtan may sit on the opposite end of the volume spectrum from quiet seated meditation, but is an equally transcendent and powerful meditation. With focused intention on a mantra, we "sing our hearts out", chanting the many names of a binding spiritual force or a prayer for peace and harmony. The focus is not on singing well, but with devotion - and this free, open-hearted breathing and releasing can very quickly bring about a warm sense of bliss and connection to all beings. I offer this beautiful branch of yoga to those who want to deepen the spiritual aspect of their practice.
